PERA ROCHA TRAVELS ON BOARD TAP

From 15th to 19th October, Pera Rocha will be the main ingredient in the desserts served to passengers on 470 TAP flights, with the signature of the chefs Henrique Sá Pessoa and Vítor Sobral

Pera Rocha do Oeste will be travelling from 15th to 19th October on board TAP’s aircraft, as the main ingredient of the desserts served to passengers on flights destined for five of the main export markets of this 100% Portuguese fruit variety: Germany, Brazil, Spain, France and the United Kingdom.

In total, 1500 kilos of Pera Rocha is going to be prepared by two of the most renowned Portuguese chefs, to sweeten the palate of the passengers of 470 TAP flights, in a partnership between the airline and the ANP – Associação Nacional de Produtores de Pera Rocha (National Association of Pera Rocha Producers. Henrique Sá Pessoa, awarded with a Michelin star, created a creamy rice pudding with Pera Rocha purée in a muscatel syrup, which will be served to those travelling in business class on medium and long-haul flights. And Vítor Sobral, one of the most dynamic chefs of Portuguese cuisine, prepared a chocolate mousse with Pera Rocha jam, which will delight the passengers in economy class on long-haul flights. Passengers in business class may also enjoy Pera Rocha in the airline’s VIP lounge, where it will be available throughout the week.

This initiative aims to promote this exclusively Portuguese fruit in five destination countries identified by the ANP as strategic internationalisation markets and is an essential step in publicising this excellent product abroad. Recognised with the EU seal DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) since 2003, Pera Rocha has already been one of the most exported domestic products. Currently, close to 60% of production goes abroad, especially Brazil, which represents more than a quarter of total foreign sales.
